There are 96 public universities in Thailand, of which 41 are royal universities, 10 are government universities, 10 are military and police colleges, 26 are autonomous universities, and 9 are royal (titled) universities of technology. There are 73 private universities, of which 39 are private universities, 23 are private colleges and 11 are private research institutes.


National University of Law and Politics, Thailand


The National University of Law and Politics (Thai: มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์) was founded in 1933 and approved as an "open university" for law and political science in 1934, and became the National University of Law and Politics (NUOLP) in 1952, and ended its history as an open university in 1960, becoming a full-fledged university with strict admission requirements and entrance examinations. In 1949, the academic structure of the University was divided into four main departments: Law, Political Science, Business and Accounting, and Economics.

Royal Bangkok University of Technology (RMUTK), Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep, is the most revered public university in all of Thailand, which was established in 1975 under the auspices of His Majesty King Rama IX of Thailand to raise the standard of science and technology education in Thailand. The school covers a total area of 237,200 square meters, with more than 15,000 students enrolled, and a strong faculty, 90% of whom have doctoral degrees from prestigious universities and have studied abroad, and enjoy the honor of the Thai royal family presiding over the graduation ceremony and awarding graduation certificates.
